Complete the following tasks and save on the floppy disk you have been given. Make sure that put CSC 101 Pretest and your name on the disk label. This is not a graded test. It is designed to assist me and to see what you already know.

Please be sure to place your screen captures directly under the tack for which the screen capture has been made. And feel free to resize the screen captures to make them smaller so this file will fit on a floppy disk.

Cut & Paste Starts Here

  1. Launch Microsoft Word and add a header with your name , the date, and "XP Pretest" to a new document. Save the document under the name Pretest_Firstname_Lastname.doc, replacing Firstname and Lastname with your first and last name, on the floppy disk you've been given.
  2. Cut and paste this numbered portion of the pretest text into this document and save.
  3. On the floppy disk, create two folders, one named CSC 101 Class Notes and one named CSC 101 Homework
  4. Do a screen capture of the floppy disk with the two folders and cut and paste it into your Word document.
  5. Create two new documents in Word. Type in several lines of text into each file. This does not have to be anything but a bunch of characters. Save both files in the folder named CSC 101 Class Notes calling one document FileA and the other FileB.
  6. View the CSC 101 Class Notes folder showing the file details. Do a screen capture and cut and paste it into the Pretest document.
  7. In Word, use the Save As option to save FileA and FileB in the CSC 101 Homework folder. Close FileA and FileB.
  8. View the CSC 101 Homework folder as Icons. Make a screen capture and cut and paste it into the Pretest document.
  9. Go back to the CSC 101 Class Notes folder. Delete FileA.
  10. Rename FileB to FileC. Do a screen capture and cut and paste it into the Pretest document.
  11. Without using Word, copy FileC to the Desktop. Do a screen capture and cut and paste it into the Pretest document.
  12. Delete FileC from the Desktop by dragging it into the Recycling Bin. Open the Recycling Bin showing that FileC is in there. Do a screen capture and cut and paste it into the Pretest document.
  13. Restore FileC to the Desktop. Do a screen capture and cut and paste it into the Pretest document.
  14. Move FileC to the Recycling Bin again. Be sure that you have resized your screen capture images so the files will fit on your floppy disk. Save your Pretest Document and close Word.
  15. Open up Windows Help and Support. Search for Internet. Select two different topics and print out a hard copy of each.
  16. Put your name on each of your help print outs and turn in your print outs and your floppy disk.
