Students are expected to find and read a total of five current computer related article throughout the semester. The articles can be from an online source or from a traditional print medium such as a newspaper or magazine. The articles must have been published within the past month. See the course home page for links to several online sources for articles and for copies of articles as well.

Please - articles must be on a computer related topic!!

After reading the article, the student should write paper containing a clear, concise, summary of the article with no spelling or grammatical errors. The first line of the summary should include the name of the article and the source of the article. Next, the student should write a summary of what the article was about in the student's own words. This section of the summary should be at least two to three paragraphs long. Finally, the student should write at least one paragraph detailing why the student chose the particular article and the student's opinion of the information provided in the article.

Summaries must be done using a word processor - no handwritten summaries will be accepted.

A copy of the article being summarized must be attached to the back of the article summary even if the article is linked from the course homepage.

The total summary should be at least one page, double spaced, in a normal sized font!! Summaries which are not one page in length will be returned and no credit will be given!!

Please include a header on the summary with the following information:

The first line of the summary should contain the title of the article

The second line should contain the name of the article's author, date the article was published, and the name of the publisher

Summaries are due at the beginning of class on the following dates:

September 16, 2010
October 7, 2010
October 28, 2010
November 18, 2010
December 9, 2010

Each article summary is worth 2 points toward the unit total of 10 possible points


Extra Credit Article Summaries

Students wishing to earn extra credit points toward their final grade my submit up to five(5) additional article summaries after the first five have been submitted. Extra credit article summaries will earn one(1) point each.
